Survey Your Way to a Cheap Vacation!!

You’re sitting on the sofa flipping through the channels on the TV when you see something that catches your eye. Dang it!! You passed it! Flip back a channel and there it is, right there on the Travel Channel, the destination you and your family have always wanted to visit or maybe it’s a theme park you go to every year, but there you sit, eyes wide, drooling, smiling at the screen. Its a Clark Griswold moment for you!! Ok, that’s it! It’s time to plan for that wonderful trip. I mean, come on now, you’ve been working hard, paying your bills, doing the 9 to 5. You deserve a nice vacation!!

So you get out a notebook and pen, sit down in front of a computer and start researching away. The next thing you know, you have a scribbled mess of prices, resort names, theme park rides, cruise line info, restaurants, graphs, charts, a doodle of Mickey Mouse and some spilled coffee from your Marty the Moose Mug. It gets a little overwhelming when you look down at that large, bold TOTAL circled in red ink. You feel a little deflated and WOW, vacations can be expensive!!

Well I’m going to show you some ways you can make a little extra cash to help offset some of the expenses of those fun, relaxing but very pricey vacation adventures. Steph read an article she saw posted on another blog about how this woman paid for their vacation completely from her EBATES and Swagbucks rebates. She would put her eBates checks in the vacation account and sell her gift cards she received from Swagbucks on a site like ebay or and put that money away too. Smart right?

I really like what she did, but one big thing concerned me. What if you aren’t a dedicated online shopper like myself? I do buy the occasional things here and there online, like my photography equipment and computer stuff and I do book all my hotel stays and car rentals online too. I am certainly an EBATES and Swagbucks customer and love to get those rebates but I don’t make enough back to pay for complete vacations. So I started looking into other avenues to make money to put towards mine and Steph’s wonderful beach getaways this summer and here’s what I discovered.

Along with receiving rebates back for my online purchases that I put aside for our vacation, I discovered Surveys!! Ok, it’s not glamorous and it’s not a big money maker, but in my spare time I can knock a few out and make a little money to go into our fund.  Some of the surveys can be a little boring, some a little long, but the great thing is you can choose to take them or not.  Some of the survey companies will give you a $5 bonus just for signing up.

After I started taking the surveys, I noticed that my accounts were really beginning to add up and that boosted my motivation to keep doing them. I started about the middle of November 2015 and I have made over $700 in payments and gift cards. Another bonus to doing surveys is getting to see things and try things before they are introduced to the overall public. I’ve tried new flavors of coffee, a frozen chicken meal, watched trailers to new movies, music, etc. These surveys are the most fun and you get paid too.

So, if you are interested in making a little extra to help out with that expensive vacation, help with the expenses of Christmas shopping or just want to pay off some debt, I’m going to give you a few pointers that helped me and list the six survey companies that I have confirmed to be legitimate and will pay you what you’ve earned.

6 Steps to Making Cash With Surveys

  1. Create an email address – When you sign up with the survey companies you will receive a great deal of email notifications informing you of new surveys. You don’t want this to fill up your everyday or work email so create a gmail, outlook or yahoo email account. Its easy to make one and its free.
  2. Get a Paypal account – This will allow you to get your payments when you redeem your approved amounts as most of the survey companies use this method as their primary payment distribution.
  3. Sign up with the survey companies – Remember to use the new email address you created.
  4. Start taking surveys and watch the money build up in your accounts!
  5. Redeem those dollars – It’s important to remember that it can take up to six weeks to get your payments or at least that is what they tell you.  The longest I’ve ever waited was three weeks.  Be patient and keep taking more surveys!
  6. And finally, The most important step!!  Put the money in a vacation account, mason jar, cigar box, envelope, or whatever you choose and hold on to it for what you are saving it for.  It’s not to pay Domino’s or get a haircut.  It’s for that DREAM VACATION!!!

Here is a list of survey companies with a proven track record that I use everyday:

Vindale Research
Opinion Outpost
Ipsos I-say
Product Report Card
Springboard America

Just remember, you wont be qualified for all the surveys they offer. You will usually know that the first couple of mins and if not they will try to fit you with one that does. You may also think 25 cents here and 75 cents there doesn’t seem like much, but it adds up pretty fast and before you know it you will have a good chunk you can apply to that dream vacation you want so bad!! Walley World here we come!!!

If you have any other creative ways to make a little extra vacation cash, feel free to share it with us! We can’t wait to hear your ideas and tips!!!
